Last Thursday, 12 of March, Laila al-Zwaini made a speech at Blanquerna in which she addressed the audience in order to clear up all misunderstanding related to Arab world and to denounce the image European have from it. 

Laila mentioned the importance of emphasizing the differences between ‘Islam’, ‘Islamism’ and ‘Muslims’ before she started the speech. She said it was very important for her to clear up these three concepts. 

She denounces West superiority against Muslims situation in Europe. She criticizes the vision that we have of East people, a vision in which the “white privilege"  still present as we consider the ones that are not like the West model not only the rest, but also inferior.

 

 

The solution she suggests is that Europe must help Turquish, Moroccan or any east person who lives in Europe in order to make them feel like they live under a constitution that protects them, ensures education and guarantee equality.
